Cascade, Iowa (population ~2,000) is about to get a powerful new economic development tool.
The Innovation Lab, a nonprofit organization based in Dubuque, IA, is launching a new coworking & innovation facility this month in Cascade. This new Innovation Lab location is part of a regional strategy to foster innovation and entrepreneurship that involves launching 5 new facilities in rural communities throughout eastern Iowa. The new Innovation Lab in Cascade is possible thanks to funding support from Iowa Economic Development Authority, Dupaco Community Credit Union, and Dubuque County.
The Innovation Lab offers coworking space, innovation services, off-site meeting rentals, and team building activities - all focused on helping entrepreneurs start, manage, and grow their business. The Innovation Lab's efforts to launch coworking & innovation spaces in rural communities served as a pilot, with lessons learned informing Rural Ideas Network's Innovation Lab Accelerator, which helps communities launch their own coworking & innovation spaces.
The new location in Cascade occupies a formerly vacant storefront space in the heart of the community's downtown commercial district. It occupies roughly 1,500 ft2 and provides flexible working/discussion spaces, a private meeting room for up to 16, and a hospitality bar with complimentary coffee and tea. Want to see it?
